REPRESENT! FERTILITY AND TTC RESOURCES FOR ALL
BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and Solo fertility resources.
If you're TTC with more specific circumstances — namely BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, or Solo — here are some fantastic resources you might find educational, inspirational, and big-picture-balancing. I've included helpful links for TTC as well as pregnancy and birth.
BIPOC
The Broken Brown Egg exists to empower, inform, and advocate for those questioning or experiencing the impact of infertility, with an emphasis on the Black experience of it.
Progyny: Inequality in Infertility
A blog post with important information, ideas for self-advocacy, and resource lists to fight racism and promote equality in reproductive health for BIPOC
Black Girls Guide to Fertility
An artistic movement (platform) to bring about much-needed conversation among black women who are struggling with infertility — includes a podcast, webisodes, blog, and more
Find a therapist, listen to their validating and informative podcast, join a "sister circle," and more
Find a culturally sensitive doctor
Not exclusively about the black experience, but hosted by a black woman who includes a focus on inclusivity, reproductive justice, and brings many diverse voices to the table
Provides education-focused programs to share info about different pathways to parenthood throughout the nation — also provides grants to help families with the costs of adoption and fertility treatment
Evidence-Based Birth: Birth Justice
On this webpage, you can find an ongoing list of both local and national birth justice organizations led by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color
LGBTQIA+
Modern Fertility's LGBTQ Resources List
This is a great post chock full of resources including blogs, Facebook groups, and books — I DO legitimately like Modern Fertility as a first step fertility hormone testing option too
Their mission: "To advance legal and lived equality for LGBTQ families, and for those who wish to form them, through building community, changing hearts and minds, and driving policy change" — they've got everything from a TTC glossary and grants to educational videos and more
A collection of LGBTQ-identified birth and postpartum professionals who work together to support LGBTQ families during family building and early parenting
Education plus a searchable index of providers by zip code that are self-reported allies
Guidance, advocacy, and financial assistance for current and future gay parents -- does also work with straight solo men who are TTC
New York Times: An LGBTQ Pregnancy, From DIY to IVF
This is a New York Times article and so requires a digital subscription to access — but they offer a pretty good introductory deal
TTC Solo
Modern Fertility's Conceiving Solo Post
Again, I'm not an affiliate, I just love that they are all about lots of education and access — and I do think their tests are a solid first step in figuring out hormones too
They've got a podcast, loads of info, 30,000+ members, and have been around since 1981
I don't have any experience with this person but I really love the info she has on her site and she's a life coach, fertility doula, and lawyer which seems like a pretty great set of specific skills — let me know if you try her services and have honest feedback for me
I mentioned this one earlier but worth sharing here as well — guidance, advocacy, and financial assistance for current and future gay parents — also works with straight solo men who are TTC solo
New York Times: Portraits of Single Moms By Choice
Again, New York Times digital subscription — but you might find it worth it
What do you think? Is there anything great I missed? Get in touch and share the resources you love and I’ll be sure to check them out!
